A good day to get married in Kamloops..

I have known the Hills for The better part of two years, and i was honoured to be asked to shoot for them.. Having little formal wedding experience, i have to say i was quite nervous.. Nervous about shooting it wrong, or god forbid, screwing up.. But those are the same feelings i imagine everyone feels when they embark on a new adventure.. So it was not much unlike the wedding itself.. The couple embarking on a new journey of their own.. It came down to it, and i did great.. seems i worried over nothing, because other than a few frames, I was very impressed with myself.. and the frames i wasn't, those were just the practice shots anyways.. So i turned that mountain back into the molehill it was..

I may not have too much wedding experience, but i view that as a good thing.. to make unique, what other photographers might make static.. to work with the couple, and make their memories something truly amazing, and everlasting.. It is something that i really enjoy doing, and look forward to more wedding shoots in the future.

Rest assured, these images are indeed fit for print, and not a useless account of everyday life.. but i think, a great collection of memories.. to last for all time..

Doing the hair.. Something the bride will remember when she is doing HER daughters hair before that wedding.. Wedding photography isnt about group shots and kisses, its about memories.. and those include moments like this.

and this.

Sometimes, putting on a necklace is a two person job.. The brides dad helps the Maid of honour finish her ' costume '

One thing i learned over my 'apprentiship' at the studio, is that the full brides dress should remain in frame at all times, and secondly, that people pay alot of money for their wedding shoes, and want to be able to see them.. So wherever possible, make those shots without having to be told to.. and definatly dont regret it later.. Film is cheap compared to memories..

Things can get a little tiring... after hours of preperation, we are almost ready to take off to the resort. Just a bit more here and there, and next stop.. Marriage!

Here comes the bride, exiting her chariot.. well, PT Cruiser.. don't let anyone tell you those things cant beat any land-speed records..

The trip from the car, to the front door can be a long one, with a train to protect from the cruel and unforgiving pavement.. The job of saving it, takes atleast 3 people to pull off correctly

Such a cutie! The Niece of the Groom, hardly knew what was going on.. but atleast she knew what to do when the camera was pointed at her! Caught ' mid cheese '

You cant have too many memories.. Tim here was the head video-grapher for the Hill wedding.. I haven't seen the tape, but I imagine its just as good as my pictures are..

The Maid of honour led the wedding procession, being no stranger to the aisle walk herself, she did it with much grace, and you can tell she is enjoying it.. No horror stories about 'bridesmaid dresses' for her..

Here comes the bride! Tradition dictates the father gives the bride away.. but she wont go too far.. Just far enough..

they will always be hand in hand, as long as they live.

And with this ring.. I thee wed.. A vignetted shot of the newly bound lovers hands.. One of the most shot images in all weddings.. Such a strong symbol of love indeed.

The parents look on, just as the vows are read.. Tears welling up in their eyes as their only daughter enters a new chapter of her life.

I dont think she would be any happier if she was holding a $50 million dollar winning lottery ticket.. Now, $51 million, thats a different story!

The Kiss.. ( not much more to say about that)

Their first walk together as a couple, back down the aisle, happy as can be.. Ive blurred their surroundings to add a timeless feel to this moment.. Something maybe to use as a frontpage for a wedding scrap book.

The lovely boquet, tossed aside ( for the time being ) to indulge in the glorious breakfast that was supplied for the guests.. I dont think ive ever tasted fresher fruit.. it was simply devine..
but that was after taking a few shots of people digging in for brunch

Who wants to forget the guy who carved your first piece of married roast!? Not when the food was as good as it was you dont..

I love the use of stone in my backgrounds.. Especially with the trees and the great color around this location.. I enjoyed this part of the shoot most.

Laughing in-between shots, i just had to capture this, most natural of shots.. You can tell they are quite in love.. and that it will last forever.

Almost as classic as they come. I wanted to get a sort of old-school retro feel, while still using full advantage of my color film..

The South Thompson Inn and resort's front steps. The lovely couple taking a breather from shaking hands and giving hugs.. but not from photographs..

This fence homed two lovely brown horses, one of which came over to see if the newly weds had any food.. They didnt, but i had some purell in my bag for afterwards (always be prepared)

Some time to themselves, away from the cameras, and the extra people.. I still managed to make a bit of a moment from that..

And here they are, the Hill's. Quite an amazing family if i do say so myself.

Laughing, sharing stories, and looking to the future, the Maid of honour imparts some wisdom to the newly weds.. Sharing her wisdom and insightful thoughts..

Now play nice girls, this is a wedding.. They have no idea whats going on, but as long as they have something to play with, they will have just as much fun as the rest of the guests are.

Two generations of Hill women, standing strong and tall, while their husbands do their bidding..

The grounds came complete with two lovely carriages, available to rent, or just pose infront of.. Not really anywhere to go, so i just posed them infront of it for a few shots.. The sun was quite intense that day, but it sure was lovely for an october wedding..

The Bride and her father infront of the river.. Not quite as high as I would have liked, for the pictures sake, but we made due.. It still is a beautiful spot, no matter how much water is in the river..

She is just so proud of her little girl. The brides mom was thrilled to see her only daughter get married.. She was glowing the whole day!

The cake was saved from the rampage of guests at the wedding, and brought home to enjoy with select family and friends.. I had a great time at the 'afterparty' and the brides parents house, is just amazing!

Let them eat cake! and a delicious cake it was.. The purple stuff was nearly 200% sugar, but the rest was superb.

And so ends a long day, bride and groom ready to embark to Whistler to share some quiet time together, on a much needed honeymoon...

... And they lived happily ever after..

The End.

before ruin befell Lord Stanley's Park..

To get my new blog off and rolling in the right direction, theres nothing better than a bit of cuteness.. If you've ever wondered what cuddly object animals sleep with, its not stuffed humans, its empty water bottles

She came running down the steps at prospect point only to hop up on the wall and just take it all in..
I envy those people who can do this.. atleast on a regular basis..
In the past month the park has been bombarded with storms, and lies in ruins.. unfortunatly..

Tiger Girl loves posing.. and was all too happy to be a model for the day.. such a devious smile..

Along for the ride was also Josh a hell raiser, also sporting a fancy cloak.. shown here rescuing his love (*note not really) from the well.. Just a fun little prop with two superb models..

I don't know why these hardcore punks would think we were throwing down rocks at them.. just cause we were standing above them.. we weren't.

Collecting berries for some sort of potion, or something, Josh's appreciation for nature is captured here.. Just a spontaneous grab.. i like it..

Down on the beach, we decided on a quick dip.. well the guys did, the girls for the time being decided to stay dry.. Until josh decided it would
be a GREAT idea to throw Tiger Girl in, and he did indeed succede.. She looked pissed, but not for long.. it was all in good fun..

It was suggested that i throw Scottish Rose in too, seeing as she was dressed for it, but i couldn't do it.. Even tho it would only be a joke, it was cold, and i knew she wouldn't want to take the plunge.. plus, she is FAR too beautiful to do that to.

I could post tons of pictures of her, and still not get tired of them, but ill leave it for now..
These touring youngsters arent used to non credit card operated viewfinders, and had trouble finding out how to work it.. but they eventually did, and it was adorable..

Don't let anyone tell you that Canadian raccoons are nicer than american raccoons, they arent! and josh found that out the hard way.. " That dem thar raccoon bit ma pointin finger! " (*note* josh is not, and has never been, a redneck.. infact, hes Canadian..

Finally, a mostly untouched shot of Ryan shooting Tiger Girl again, quite backlit, and the glow is real.. The sky, i darkened seperatly.. but seeing as you can do that in a darkroom, i figure its not cheating..

Thanks for reading and sharing the pics.. Lately there have been a few BIG storms ravaging the area, and many many trees, and paths have been blown away, or washed out..

so it may never be the same again :( .. which is awful, cause i loved it there..

Cheers from stormy Vancouver
